Nanjing

A short distance from Wuhu (take the fast train for around 40 minutes and 35 RMB), Nanjing is a big city with a long history. Historical spots include the Ming Wall, Confucius Temple, Xiaoling Mausoleum of Ming Dynasty, and Dr. Sun Yat Sen's Mausoleum. To get some exercise in, hike up the steps on the beautiful Purple Mountain.



Hefei

The capital of Anhui province, Hefei is a short distance from Wuhu. Take the slow train for about 2 hours and 30 RMB to reach the capital. Hefei features Chao lake, one of China’s five largest fresh-water lakes, Sanhe Ancient town, and various memorial halls and temples.



Huangshan

This city features one of China’s most beautiful mountain areas: Yellow Mountain. View the sunset atop one of the peaks here, and then come back to visit Hongchun Ancient Village, a picturesque old town. Take the slow train for about 4 hours (50 RMB one way) to reach the scenic area.



Shanghai

A bit further out, Shanghai is one of China’s biggest tourist cities. Having a modern and Western feel, Shanghai is famous for the Bund. Catch the views from the Oriental Pearl TV

Tower and World Financial Center, or go back in time and stroll around Yuyuan Garden. To get there, take the fast train  for 4 hours, costing about 175 RMB.
